I am still alive and stitching away frantically before we leave to go to the US on holiday for 2 weeks.
While I am away, my son will be coming home to work on my website to totally revamp it, using a new system, whereby I will be able to upload to the site myself, a very exciting thought as I hate being dependent on others!
Om my return, I will be teaching at the Great Escapes weekend - see link on home page - and am looking forward to this new venture. Jane has invited me to teach again next year so watch this space for further details and, as soon as I have a brochure, I will forward it onto you on request.
The first weekend of October will see me up at the Madeira fashion show, where I will be launching a number of new designs, including 5 new pin cushion designs. Please pop along to say hello.
On this note I will leave you as I have 3 sets of instructions on the go and time is running out!
More news on my return from the Florida sun!
Keep stitching

Since last writing we have been out on holiday to South Africa so I have come back all fired and inspired with new ideas! We also arrived back to find my ballet shoes gracing the front cover of the April/May edition of Stitch. I have not, as yet, put the ballet shoes up as a kit, but if there are requests for this, I will make up a complete kit for you for £19.95, which includes P&P.
I have lots of new projects in the pipeline including a footstool design, as well as more pincushions.
My email address is now once again functioning, as it too went down with the change of host. So please do not hesitate to get hold of me with regard any queries and /or problems with regard the website, either by email or by phoning.
Keep stitching!

My latest pincushion appears in the current Stitch magazine! As not all embroiderers enjoy Turkeywork/Tufting, I am posting a picture of the design worked in French knots, very kindly done for me by one of my students, Elizabeth Smyth.
Just a reminder that Great Escapes (new link on the home page) offers wonderful, stitching "getaway" weekends at amazing venues. I have been invited to teach on one of these and will run a pincushion workshop this September at Wotton House, near Dorking. A couple of new designs will be released specifically for the workshop participants.
Lastly MORE exciting news. Next month I grace the front cover of Stitch magazine with a piece of work especially designed for the magazine's editor, Kathy Troup. I'll leave that all as a surprise for you!
Keep stitching!

posted by Lorna at 10:46 AMThe pace has been slow - simply put I think I am worn out!! So to this end I have now decided to take a break from all the big shows for at least a year while I STITCH and create and play and generally find myself and my house!! For my soul I need to tidy my draws, throw out a lot of junk collected over the years and hopefully whilst doing all that, find myself again! Note I did not mention cleaning and dusting!!
This past year has seen all 3 of my boys in and out of home for varying periods, which has been great but alas, when they've left, all their goods and chattels stayed behind!!! Ryan, the eldest, is off to New Zealand and South Africa for 3 months, so I now have various black bags, laundry bags, boxes and even a cupboard decorating one room, while he sublets his room out in London! 'Michael in the middle', having just completed university, is off traipsing through Africa on a motorbike with his father( see link on front page!!) so I now have ALL his worldly goods and possessions bagged and boxed in another room. Daniel, on a gap year, leaves shortly too for the southern hemisphere, so at least I will be able to put all his belongings into his wardrobe and cupboards and not have to contend on a daily basis with what looks very much like the local tip!
However having said all that you will realize that I am desperately in need of the feminine touch
so will be painting and decorating my bedroom and sewing room and then designing, stitching and more stitching!!
I am off to France too, in two weeks time to look at accommodation there for teaching. One of my students Jenny Miller, has moved from the UK to Normandy and is keen for me to come and run classes over there. She will eventually convert two 'gites' on their property into a large studio but in the interim we will be looking for a local hall for me to teach in. More on this later!!
I am still teaching regularly and from January will be offering a class from my home on a Tuesday evening. The man in my life, Jos, works away Monday to Friday and with the boys all gone, it has enabled me to add another class for the ladies, who work 9 - 5!! Please call me if you are interested!
Great Escapes (new link on the home page) offers wonderful, stitching "getaway" weekends at amazing venues. I have been invited to teach on one of these and will run a workshop next September at Wotton House, near Dorking.
Lastly do keep a look out for 4 new designs to be published over the next few months in Stitch magazine. That has kept me busy too!
An update to follow after France and a trip to Brussels - the second for beer though, and not for stitching!
Lorna
PS I have made good use of Ryan at home this week, managing to get him to do some updating of the website. After his trip we will change to a new system, whereby I can edit and manage the site myself - far easier when the 2 computer 'bofs' are mostly away!!

There are also a number of shops that stock the threads so if you search the web, some of them come up.
As far the the kits are concerned, I still have those that are indicated on the website. Remember you need to contact me directly through email or by phone if you wish to order, as the sale does not go through Paypal.
Time as always waits for no one, least of all me, as I try to get ahead with stitching new pieces. I have had a further 2 pieces accepted for publication by Stitch magazine, as well as been issued a challenge by Kathy Troup, the editor, to embroider a specific project for the magazine, so it's a case of needle to the cloth and watch this space! The backs aches and the neck is stiff but oh, what a pleasure it is to just sit and stitch.
I have a couple of vacancies on a Thursday morning for students wishing to attend classes on a regular basis every 2 weeks. I am also putting up more one day workshops which will go onto the website shortly.
Sadly one of my friends and a student, Wendy-ann Hunter, passed away this last week from cancer. This is now the third friend I have lost to cancer. I donate to cancer research every year and I am making an appeal to you all to do the same, so that progress can be made to stop this terrible disease, which affects so many in the prime of their lives. Wendy-ann suffered terribly but is at last at peace, after a long, hard fought battle! I will miss you Wendy-ann - thank you for your encouragement and determination! I just wish you'd be spared more time to do more of the embroidery you loved so very much!
Keep stitching - it keeps us all going when times are tough!

All threads and kits must go!
Dear customers
As I said in previous news update, I have been making quite a few changes to my business and have decided to discontinue the threads agency as well as all imported kits. I will only be continuing with my classes, workshops and my own designs. The importing side has become too big and unwieldy.
As of today, I will therefore be selling off all the remaining kits - Roseworks kits, Daaft Designs and Les Designs and threads - House of Embroidery threads and ribbons - that I have in stock at half price. Because of the logistics involved of altering the website, you WILL NOT be able to order the kits on the website through Paypal. You will either have to email me, phone me or print off an order form to place an order. If you order online, YOU WILL PAY THE FULL PRICE!! As we sell out, we will remove that design from the website so by looking at the website, you will have an idea of what still remains in stock.
Silk Ribbon Designs
Scent of Lavender - LAVC
Scent of Lavender - LAVPF
Holly & Mistletoe Pin cushion - PP3
Christmas Roses - XMASR
Glorious Irises - GIY and GIB
Roses and Wisteria - RWC, RWCB and RWPF
I have passed the agency for the kits on to :
Chrissie Sherwood
Tel 01832 274881
www.injabulo.com
She will carry both the Roseworks and the Daaft range and already has them set up on her website for viewing. She does many of the shows as well as mail order, so the services she offers are the same as mine. Many of you will already know her from the beautiful buttons that she imports from
I am, in the meantime, looking for someone to take on the thread agency, as the product is superb and sells very well.
Please do not hesitate to call me with any queries.
Best wishes
NB: Please note that postage cannot be halved for obvious reasons!!!
