At last, the promised Counting Sheep! This will be available at Sewing for Pleasure or can be ordered online! I have embroidered this as a precious pincushion design or it can be stitched in a straight line - it has a couple of very basic stumpwork techniques incorporated into it. I was inspired by the sheep who every now and again stand in a long line, one behind the other and all facing the same direction, for who knows what reason - first seen on the Yorkshire Dales! Near Alton we have a field of black sheep only and I just love the contrast of them against the green grass. With the pincushion, I have used drizzle stitch for one sheep, a slip of French knots appliqued onto the background and a couched woollen thread for the third. For the picture I decided to work with drizzle stitch only, as it lends itself so well to the curly coats of the sheep but both designs can be done either way! Little wired horns complete the design.
Next on the agenda are a couple of new crazy patchwork bags and some new silk ribbon designs. So back to the drawing board and more stitching. Lorna
